Seo Jia Han Alvin is a member of the Youth Advisory Committee at Global Compact Network Singapore. In 2019, Alvin was recognised as one of ten United Nations Global Compact SDG Pioneers in championing sustainability and mobilising companies to be a force for good. Alvin is currently Associate Director, APAC Sustainable Finance Office at UBS. Prior to that, he was the Global Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Lead at Maxeon Solar Technologies where he led the formulation of Maxeon’s inaugural ESG strategy, roadmap, governance, organisation-wide materiality assessment exercise with its internal and external stakeholders to map out key material topics for its first sustainability report covering its global footprint in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. Alvin joined Maxeon after more than five years in Singtel where he was Group Sustainability Manager and was previously the Environmental Manager at Optus, Singtel’s fully-owned subsidiary in Australia during his international assignment. He also worked with the sustainability teams of its regional Associates in the Philippines (Globe), Thailand (AIS), Indonesia (Telkomsel) and India (Airtel).
Outside of work, Alvin, together with six other National University of Singapore, Master of Science, Environmental Management (MEM) alumni, launched the MEM Cares project in 2020. This initiative encouraged sustainable practices amid the COVID-19 Circuit Breaker and environmental awareness through findings from a survey on the use of disposable cutlery and utensils while purchasing food takeaway and deliveries in Singapore with findings featured in local and international media. Alvin holds a M.Sc in Environmental Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Second Upper) Honours from NUS and member of the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Gold Award Holder Alumni. In his free time, Alvin loves water sports and is looking forward to the next time he can dive again.
