Dr Radhika Bhargava wears multiple hats as a coastal geographer, geospatial analyst, National Geographic Explorer. She is a Research Fellow at the NUS Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions working with wetland conservation in Asia. She recently completed her PhD at the National University of Singapore to understand the impacts of and maladaptations to mangrove shoreline retreat in the largest mangrove forest globally located across India and Bangladesh in the Sundarbans which serves as a critical wildlife habitat and source of livelihood for coastal communities. Radhika uses various methods like remote sensing, machine learning, political ecology and community-based conservation in her research to understand how to bridge the gap between sustainable development and conservation.
